Whilst the upper classes dress down to go out, the working class dress up.

Dating back to the second half of the 19th century, and ever since, sub-cultures have been created and driven almost exclusively by those in the working class communities. Starting with the Scuttlers of Manchester in the 1870's and their monotony towards life in the slums, advancing through to the Teddy Boys, Mods and Rockers era of the 50's, through to the Punk and Skin scenes, Ska, Reggae, the 80's and 90's skate scene, right up to today's contemporary minimalism. They were all the brainchild of those fighting for an identity - an identity that correlates conclusively with fashion - so it makes sense to call these people heroes.

With this premise as his inspiration, Working Class Heroes was founded in 2006 by Thomas Bowden. The initial intent was to sell a range of skate and street clothing from all around the globe to the good people of Ulverston, Cumbria, from his tiny shop in a shady looking alleyway. Since 2006 the company has moved to a bigger, better, less creepy location, sweeping up new brands, stories and people along the way.

Our ranges of footwear, clothing and homeware is comprised of a brand mix that appeals to us. Not one that follows a particular genre or alignment, but one that we feel goes together, blurring the lines between distinctions and classifications in order to create something beautiful.

Fred Perry Twin Tipped Bomber Jacket

Realistically I'd say that 8 out of every 10 people own something Fred Perry. Their sail through British subcultures is incredible - whether you're a punk rocker, a preppy tennis player or just like to dress a little fancy. When I was a little kid (I mean, I still am) I owned a Fred Perry tee and didn't even know it. Whilst ever looking forward yet remembering the past, their ranges are incredible and it's this process that brings us this Bomber.

The Tennis Bomber was the original warm-up jacket on the courts during the 1950's. Still featuring the classic sillhouette to retain its sporting heritage, the jacket is made from a tough polyester fabric with a ribbed and elasticated hem and cuffs which can grip to the body and stay steady during a warm-up. Or you know, just a city strut. Also ribbed, the original bomber collar has been replaced with their Twin Tipped look - it's like I said, ever looking forward.

The jacket features two profile-stitched zip-up handwarmer pockets like a tennis ball as well as an internal security pocket for the locker key or wallet. With the torso lined with Fred Perry's standard light quilted insulation, this is a perfect simple jacket for both sport and day-to-day.

Slim Fit: Slim fitting, sitting close to the body, great for showing of your guns and pecks.

Regular Fit: Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting garments that are bang in the middle. The middle is good.

Relaxed Fit: Drapes loosely on the body, baggy fit.

Run the tape around the fullest part of your chest, the tape should be just below the arm pit and over the shoulder blades whilst horizontal to the floor.

Measure around your natural waist as show in the diagram

Measure your inside leg from crotch to ankle blone keeping your leg straight: not as easy as it sounds, you could take a pair of trousers that you already own, that fit you well, and measure from the crotch to the bottom of the leg.

This is a bit more tricky! Measure from the top of your spine (at the bottom of your neck) to your elbow and on the your wrist

You should place the beginning of the measuring tape behind your shoulder, and feed it out following your arm making sure to pass both the elbow joint and the wrist, as pictured. You should take the measurement at the point where you would like the sleeve to end. This is usually just past your wrist.
