Red Wing

Charles Beckman, an already successful local shoe marchant, along with 14 other investors, founded the Red Wing Shoe Company in 1905 in the town of, surprisingly, Red Wing, Minnesota. Their first boot which was released the same year was a tall-looking thing with both buckles and laces for a secure, work-ready fit. Their first shoe plant and workforce, who were cutting heavy-weight leather by hand, was established in 1908.

As they grew they began making speciality boots for specific jobs, for example the Oil King Boots for oil field workers. Their first women's boots, the Gloria, were released in 1926, just off the curve of the Suffrage movement, and another boot in their bevy includes 1932's military-esque Billy Boot.

An interesting history to read about, they set up a mobile shoe sales service which ran from 1940 to 64', allowing workers to buy new boots at their workplace. In 1964 their second plant was opened up, and start as you mean to go on, Red Wing have paved the way for hardy, everlasting and fashionable workwear ever since. Now over 100 years old, we are overjoyed to celebrate their success with them.
