The footwear of choice for our Polo RL shoot was Salomon; a brand which has been killing it in the lifestyle/outdoor trainer world. Those who are familiar with the brand will probably have a favourite silhouette, but we thought we’d do you a favour and share with you our top picks for the first instalment of the Spring/Summer season.
Living in the Lakes, a shoe like Salomon is in its natural habitat. The brand is best known for its high-quality trail running shoes, hiking boots, and winter sports equipment, but in recent years the 70-year-old hiking brand has become famous for its utilitarian, functional, outdoor-inspired gear, which has been embraced by the Gorp Core community.
We chose two pairs of the XT-6, which is the brand’s most popular style but also happens to be our go-to silhouette. The XT-6 Shoes in White Lunar Rock are a crisp and fresh-looking style in their all-white appearance. Give them 5 minutes in my hands and they’ll somehow turn red. They’re made from a lightweight mesh upper with a TPU film laminate and feature a lightly padded lining, along with the brand’s Quicklace system.
The second pair is the XT-6 GORE-TEX Shoes in Safari Black. This for me could potentially be the shoe of the year! As soon as you put GORE-TEX on or in something, I’m in. These shoes not only keep you dry, but they have the same build as all other XT-6 models, so they’re just as lightweight and comfortable, making them the perfect style for the season.
