We’ve had Henry with us this week for work experience, so we decided he could write the content for today’s newsletter and blog. Over to you, Henry!

Which area of the business have you enjoyed working on the most?

I’m not sure I can pick a part of the business I enjoyed the most, every part was so amazing and different to each other, where to pick only one area would be impossible. For the sake of this question, I would have to say that my favourite area of the business would be either the picking with Louis in the warehouses or going on the drives to go to meetings. The reason I picked picking as one was due to the fact that I really enjoyed the process of look at the device from a piece and looking for it, it felt like a massive treasure hunt and I cant name a better feeling than going into the allocated bin and it being the first one you pick up. I also chose going for meetings as a favourite part due to the fact that we got to look at new lines of clothing, and I could see and sit there whilst the process was being done. It felt like such a privilege to be able to sit in that room as they asked about the clothes and made high-value decisions.

What’s been your highlight of the week?

To pick one moment in this week that has been my favourite part is extremely difficult, but if I had to choose, I would say that it would have to be in-between the photo shoot we did on Wednesday with Edd and Kara. From the car ride when we were laughing at Edd for not bringing a coat to the extreme winds, we were all pissing ourselves at every moment. My favourite part was when we would constantly be told to stand still for the photo, and Kara’s hat would constantly fly off, and we would all have to go get it. Luckily, we came with three hats and left with the three hats. All this week has been truly amazing, but the most memorable will definitely be the photoshoot.

What’s it been like working with the WCH team?

I have spent the last five days working in every aspect of the job, and everywhere I have been, there were only extremely wonderful people. On the first day, I spent time with Tom, Sally and Edd, and there wasn’t a dull moment or a time where they didn’t educate me on what was happening at the time, and i never felt like I wasn’t part of the team. They always included me in their conversations and discussions. That was the same with everyone I have worked with this past week. There hasn’t been a moment where I felt like a spare part or that I wasn’t doing anything; no matter who it was, they would just take me under their wing and show me the ropes of how everything worked. The team were extremely welcoming and helpful every day of this past week. Most importantly, I never received any special treatment or was treated differently because of my age or my being new; from the get-go, I was treated as an equal by everyone I worked with, no matter the position. Working with the WCH team has been truly an amazing experience.

Anything else you want to add?

I would like to tell everyone who helped make my experience as incredible as it was that from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank them for everything they did for me. If there’s one thing I could add it would be that i would recommend this experience to everyone unsure about what they want to do in the future, with this experience you try out so many new things and the people you would work side by side are some of the most amazing and kind people I have ever met and this experience has truly been a memorable one.

I want to thank the entire WCH team from the bottom of my heart.
