Dutch artist, Piet Parra is best known for his curved post-pop imagery, highly saturated colours, vibrant hand-drawn letters and worlds inhabited by hybrid, surreal characters. Celebrated by galleries and championed by an underground following from the outset, Parra has quickly become a respected and eclectic artist, worldwide.
By Parra is one of the most exciting pickups for WCH this season and is an all-time favourite brand of mine, so being involved in this shoot and being able to waffle on about it is an absolute pleasure.
Parra’s style is instantly recognisable, which is one of the main reasons I love the brand. Don’t get me wrong, there are some amazing graphics out there at the moment, but the uniqueness of Parra’s cartoon-like art just pulls me in, so much so that I’ve already nabbed a few bits to see me through the Summer!
We actually struggled to pull some outfits together due to the amazing sales we saw on our first season with the brand, but we made it work with whatever we had left and headed out in’t van for a meander on the fells. It’s July, so peak Summer, you’d have thought. WRONG. It was grey and overcast and then began to rain. At least we looked good!
Tom was wearing the Yoga Balled Shirt in Off White in XL. This is a slightly relaxed-fitting shirt made from 100% cotton and features an embroidered design right across the chest. This was mixed with a pair of Distorted Water Swim Shorts which are a regular fitting swim short with built-in mesh briefs and feature a classic Parra all-over print pattern. Finishing off this look was a Script Logo 6 Panel Hat in Sage Green.
I went for the Bleached And Blank T Shirt in White which features an amazing chest graphic to the front. This tee is a nice boxy fit (made from 240gsm 100% cotton) but I’d still take your usual size. On the bottom half was a pair of Distorted Camo Shorts in Pink. Much like Tom’s shorts, these feature an all-over printed design but this time no mesh lining, making these shorts the ultimate Summer bangers. Finishing off this one was a Script Logo 6 Panel Hat in Castleton Green.
We’re buzzing to be working with By Parra and can’t wait to see what else the brand has in store for us!
