Working Class Heroes XX Monster Monster

2023 sees Monster Monster raving into its 20th year of existence. Since 2003, Dave Crossley and his Ulverston-based underground dance collective have hosted parties & DJ’d all over the UK at some of the most revered clubs and festivals including Gatecrasher, Joshua Brooks, Sankeys, Kendal Calling, Beatherder, Sonisphere, Solfest & Glastonbury as well as headlining Dave’s other sideline shindig the 20k capacity festival Another Fine Fest.

After building a cult following in Manchester, the night relocated to home turf in South Cumbria and has been selling out 300 – 500 capacity venues since 2008 including the old Roxy Club, The Canteen, The Nines, and The Coro with their unique blend of live visuals, lasers, themed decor, drum bands, circus performers, costumed dancers, DJs with live vocals and live acts.

The collective has hosted some of the biggest names in the scene, catching many on their ascendancy to the top, legends such as Dub Fx, Dub Pistols, Krafty Kuts,  Skream, Sub Focus, and even Shy FX who came up to Ulverston from London on his night off to replace Danny Byrd who had canceled for a second time. What makes this situation even more unlikely is that the venue for this one was the Sun Inn – yea that’s right – Shy FX in the friggin Sun!

This is not Monster’s first dalliance with Working Class Heroes.  Back in 2016, Tom asked Dave if Monster would help WCH celebrate its 10th anniversary and Dave took about an 18th of a second to say yes. “It was an honour to be asked as we a big fans of WCH. We were lucky enough to be able to snag Nu:Tone from Hospital Records to come and play for us at the party. That was an intense night – truly electric – sweat was literally dropping from the ceiling.”

And so we now look towards Sat 28th October and Monster Monster’s 20th anniversary Halloween Rave with Mark XTC  – Mark is an amazing DJ and veteran of the underground, as seen at Glastonbury, Notting Hill Carnival, Parklife, Moovin, Mucky Weekender, Hacienda, Helter Skelter, Dreamscape, Fantazia, Fabric, The Warehouse Project and all over Ibiza, he is also a former North West DMC Championship Winner.”We saw him smashing Moovin to pieces the last couple of years running. We chose him and particularly his “History” set as it includes a selection of styles from early 90s rave to the present day. Expect a variety of beats and vibes perfect for a 20th birthday celebration”.
