Polar Skate Co. was founded in 2011 by Pontus Alv, a Swedish designer, videographer, skater, or ‘just a dude’, according to his Instagram bio. Alv has been a key figure in the “DIY skate park” scene, which has been well-documented in his cult-like skate films.

It wasn’t that long ago that we were shouting about Polar but they’ve just dropped a new collection, so we thought it’d be best if we went out into the Lakes and skated some incredibly rough and sh*t-covered tarmac.

Warehouse Manager, Tom and I grabbed some boards, got dressed headed into the Lakes with the photography team to find said tarmac. It’s worth noting that Tom is incredible on a skateboard and could probably skate on the surface of the Moon but I’ve not even as much as looked at a skateboard in years. I was mainly there to boost morale.

Just past Lowick, we found a nice tree, so we thought this would do for spot 1. From there we drove to Birker Fell which was way more intense and really separated the men from the boys. The only things on offer here were speed wobbles and sheep sh*t.

We got through without injury or death, so what better way to celebrate than with a pint back in Lowick? A few nice numbers from Fell Brewery were on tap, so we had to get stuck in.
