Danner Shoe Mfg. Company first opened its doors in 1932 when Charles Danner set out to build affordable, handcrafted work boots. Based in the old logging town of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, during the Great Depression leather and other necessary raw materials were dirt cheap and boots were selling for less that $4 a pair. It was when Charles discovered that boots sold for three times the price in the Pacific Northwest that he moved the Danner company to Portland, Oregon, where the boots are made to this day.
