Just got back from the exotic and far flung destination of Warrington where I had a meeting with Asics and Onitsuka Tiger. Glad to announce that from September we will be stocking ranges from this brand.
In 1949 by Mr Kihachiro Onitsuka set up a footwear company named Onitsuka to produce basketball shoes for the country’s basket ball team.
It was two guys named Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight that first started to import Onitsuka Tiger into the USA for long distance runners. Those names might be familiar with the sneaker heads out there as these guys went on to found Nike. The similarity between the Tiger Corsair and the Nike Cortez is hard to go unnoticed.
The company later become known as Asics but still carries the Onitsuka name in the range of shoes that have a nod to street wear whilst simultaneously keeping the old styling set out by Kihachiro all those years ago.
We will taking a range from the Onitsuka category including:
Hulse, a football-inspired shoe with a folded tongue slim sole and suede upper.
The Shore Runner and Harandia will be featuring taking a massive dose of style from Asics’ running heritage providing street wear classics with Asics comfort.
Straight out of the 1980 will be the Colorado Eighty Five based on a fitness classic of the time the shoe will feature flex canals, lateral foot tread and excellent flexibility.
There will be a nice offering from the Gel Lyte 3 series and the Saga. One to watch out for will be the Gel Lyte III and Gel Saga as part of the Love Hate series. You have been given plenty of notice.
