Levi's started over a 160 years ago in 1853 as a wholesaler of clothing and blankets, selling to small independent shops in the west of America. Inventors of what we know call jeans, Strauss and Davis, the company bosses, developed what they called a "waist overall" for agricultural workers in America. These waist overalls were riveted with copper for extra strength. Strong as you like or in other words with strength and ease they always please, Strauss and Davis had made the first pair of jeans and stumbled across a fashion design that would have far reaching effects much further a field than the work wear market they were designing for. The actual cut of these was later named the 501.

It wasn't until the 1960's when the term 'jeans' took off and prior to that point they were still known as waist overalls. Skaters have been wearing the red tab collection for over 30 years but now Levi's have come out with a specific skate range that will provide the denims for the sport and down the pub after.

Based on classic cuts such 511 and 513 the range is a mix of slim to regular denims with a slight taper to straight legged. The cotton is woven with just a touch of Lycra for stretch and Cordura for durability. Less chance of ripping the backside out when you go sliding down the road.
